Topics — Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-06-29
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Topics app for iPhone ("Topics", "the app"). By downloading or using Topics, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app
Topics is a local-first note-taking app that lets you write notes and embed calendar events and reminders inline. Topics has no user accounts and no backend server operated by the developer. Your content is stored on your device and synced to your own private Apple iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit.
Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Topics on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with these Terms and with Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Apple Standard EULA"), available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. Where these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA conflict, the Apple Standard EULA governs to the extent of the conflict.
Your content
You own the notes, events, reminders, and attachments you create in Topics. The developer does not access, collect, or transmit your content — see the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your content and for keeping your own backups (for example, by keeping iCloud enabled).
Third-party services
Topics can connect, at your request, to third-party calendar providers:
- Google Calendar, via Google's official OAuth 2.0 APIs.
- Apple Calendar, via Apple's EventKit framework.
Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Topics is an independent app and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Google or Apple beyond the use of their public developer APIs.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse Topics, including by attempting to reverse engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the app except to the extent permitted by law, or by using it for any unlawful purpose.
No warranty
Topics is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data sync or backup will always succeed.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of Topics. Keep independent backups of any important data.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will be revised, and the current version will be published at this URL. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the developer's place of residence, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your country of residence.
