Topics — Support
Topics brings your notes, calendar events, and reminders together on a single page. Write a rich note (a "Topic"), embed events and reminders inline as interactive pills, and keep everything one glance away with the home-screen widget. Topics syncs two-way with Google Calendar and Apple Calendar, works fully offline, and is local-first — your data stays on your device and syncs through your own private iCloud (via Apple's CloudKit).
Getting started
- Create a Topic. Tap the + button, give it a name, and start writing.
- Embed an event or reminder. Use the editor toolbar to drop an event or reminder directly into your notes. It appears as a color-coded pill you can tap to edit or complete.
- Connect a calendar (optional). In Settings, connect Google Calendar (sign in with Google) or Apple Calendar (allow calendar access when iOS asks). Events and reminders you add then sync two-way with that calendar. You can connect up to two providers.
- Add the widget. Touch and hold an empty area of your home screen, tap +, search for Topics, and add the Topics widget (large size). It shows your pinned Topics and upcoming events and reminders — and you can complete reminders right from the widget.
- Pin what matters. Pin the Topics you use most so they surface first in the list and on the widget.
Frequently asked questions
Which calendars does Topics support? Google Calendar (via secure Google sign-in) and Apple Calendar (via on-device EventKit). You can connect up to two providers. Microsoft Outlook is not supported.
Do I need an account? No. Topics has no accounts and no sign-up. Calendar sign-in is only used to access the calendar you choose to connect.
Where is my data stored? On your iPhone. Topics is local-first — your notes, attachments, events, and reminders are stored on your device. There is no Topics server and nothing is sent to us.
How do I back up or restore my data? Topics syncs your data to your own private iCloud automatically (using Apple's CloudKit) whenever you are signed in to iCloud. On a new iPhone, or after reinstalling, sign in with the same Apple ID and your Topics restore automatically — make sure iCloud is enabled in iOS Settings. (Your data is also included in your device's standard iCloud backup.)
Can I use Topics offline? Yes. You can create and edit everything with no connection. Changes sync automatically the next time you are online.
How do I export or share a Topic? Use the share action to export a Topic as Markdown, plain text, or PDF.
How do I revoke calendar access? For Google, revoke access in your Google Account security settings. For Apple Calendar, change the permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
